Sleep Causes Car Accidents
We hear of people who have been into car accidents. The reasons have been enumerated and most of them point towards drunk driving and even falling asleep on the wheel. Apparently, these statistics don’t lie.

Slippery Times In Hoboken
There have been many minor “10-32’s” (car accidents) all over town, and even the 14th Street viaduct has become very treacherous. Hopefully another deadly accident doesn’t happen before they can salt the roads.

My Private Car Accident
From the Turk at New York Personal Injury Law, a post about Progressive Insurance sending its investigators into a church support group, worming their way into the private therapy sessions, where they recorded people disclosing their deepest, darkest secrets in the hopes of catching two members who were suing for damages resulting from an auto accident. One of the most disgraceful examples I've seen in a long time.

Road Signs And Car Accidents
The lesser-clothed of the three figures, arranged as seen in the impressionist painting Luncheon on the Grass by Manet, was causing drivers to crane their necks so that they could sneak a look at her bare physique and car accidents as a result of such peeping-tom antics were reported to have happened.

Drunk Driving And Car Accidents
You know it’s a problem to drink and drive. Drinking and driving is the most frequently committed crime. 115 people a day die from car accidents. Of that, 47 had been drinking. Most of the accidents occur between midnight and 3 am. 43% of the fatal accidents of drunk drivers happen on the weekend. Holidays always play an important role, too. New Year’s Day is number one at 67%. Fortunately, cars are getting safer and the statistics are slowing from early 1960’s levels.

Of course, there is the George Carlin therory to the two kinds of people who cause car accidents... everyone driving slower than you is an idiot, while everyone driving faster than you is a maniac. I'm sure a lot of us are going to go with Carlin on this one. ;)

The Real Liberal Agenda
Third, this backwards media and liberal agenda is now fighting against peoples right to smoke publicly because it causes cancer and the effects of secondhand smoke can affect those that do not smoke, even in the outdoors. So why is that so important? Less people die of cancer or cancer related deaths than in car accidents, which tops as the Nations number one cause of deaths and fatalities only second to abortions. But you will never hear them cry about that.

DWI
I knew that I had an empty bottle lying on the floor of my passenger side and a half of cup of champagne in the cup holder of my car. No one wants a police officer to see this damaging evidence because it is automatically used against you and is justifiable evidence for the citation being written on the spot during the police stop and it is illegal to drive with alcohol in the car anywhere/ I thought it was a routine stop to be honest and the police car was mixed in the traffic, the police car came from out of the flow of the traffic, it all happen so fast and the next thing I know I am being handcuffed and lead to the police cruiser to be driven away to the police station.

This is a tragic story that pulls all our heartstrings. But, it should also give us some perspective.
PLAINWELL, Mich. – Petty Officer 3rd Class Shane Schmidt and her father share a unique, yet tragic bond – both survived their war experiences in the Navy only to be killed in car accidents back home. The 32-year-old soldier also was buried on the 32nd anniversary of her father’s death.

Smoking Bans To Lead To Other Bans?
I believe that at the heart of these initiatives lies the specter of Orwell, where society attempts to control the behavior of its' citizens by legislative fiat. What comes next after smoking? My guess is obesity; I am already going to the gym more! After that, alcohol is next; that will be a fight. But after all, alcohol kills millions in car accidents, many more via liver disease and the occasional bar fight, doesn't it? Someone will come up with statistics showing the gazillions of dollars that we will save by not...

The Future Costs of Traumatic Brain Injury
In many personal injury cases, like car accidents or slip and falls, a person is hurt, incurs medical bills, gets better, and moves on with life. The cost of that victim's care is usually paid because it is all finished.

Cellular Phones As Harmful As Tobacco?
Last, but certainly not least. It isn’t the brightest idea in the world to talk on your cell phone and drive. A 1997 New England Journal of Medicine showed that talking on your cell phone increases your risk of death by 400 percent. Since car accidents are the number one cause of death for most of us, why risk it? Please understand this statistic is unrelated to having a hands free operation; however, in my opinion, even if you aren’t dialing, you are at risk because your focus and concentration is not on the road but on the phone.

Why Our Colleges Are So Messed Up
Click through for a (very graphic) picture of the pubic beetle if you're interested. This story has been going around the internet for several days now. Some dumb bimbo art student took a picture of her pubic region and then made a transfer onto the hood of her VW beetle.
She was forced to paint over this display because she was causing car accidents. However, her college art professors thought it was great.

Sixteen and Behind the Wheel
The automobile brings freedom to the American teenager. It can also bring stupidity. Car accidents are the leading cause of death among teens. Driving with a friend doubles your risk of getting in a wreck, and talking on that cell phone slows your reaction time to that of a 70-year-old. Don't check your brains at the car door: Wear your seatbelt. Drive the speed limit (I'm still learning that one). Look both ways. Red means stop. Showing off puts your stupidity on display. And donuts? Stick to eating them. (

Car Accident Protocol
If you have a car accident, don't rely on your ex. Follow the directions your insurance company provides.
First person I thought of was my ex, a guy who could be called the king of car accidents in that little circle of friends of mine. I wish he could be there to tell me what to do next. Then I almost laughed out loud after 2 seconds, because I just realized that he should be on the plane to London at that moment. How inconvenient. Otherwise I would definitely call him, although we have not talked on the phone for some time.

Picture of Nude Woman Creates Dangerous Traffic Situation
The police of Los Angeles have recently had a lot of fun, when they were filling out papers to register a series of car accidents. As it turned out, drivers were losing control and running into other vehicles because of a giant women's pubis, which they could see displayed on the front part of an oncoming car. The LA police started desperately looking for the unfortunate pubis and came upon the tracks of young hairdresser, Nelly Node.
Nelly's passion for arts made the young woman photograph her own crotch and put the zoomed picture on her Volkswagen Beetle. Nelly decided to use such a shameless method to prepare her college course work, in which she analyzed the art of design. The witty student's idea worked for the college professors: she was proudly driving her "pubic beetle" until the police arrested the woman.
The court ruled that Nelly's car was creating a dangerous situation on the roads: the girl had to paint her car's bonnet over.

New Zealand Traffic Fatalities Tied to Gender
The loss of men was too great to be explained by New Zealand’s high male youth suicide rate, or by death through risk-taking or car accidents. The imbalance is an oddity - New Zealand has one of the highest ratio of women to men among developed countries. In Denmark and Germany, the imbalance runs the other way.

2005 Car Insurance Premium Growth Slower Than Inflation
Nationwide, the cost of auto insurance is expected to rise by just 1.5 percent in 2005, the smallest increase in five years, according to the Insurance Information Institute.
The average cost for auto insurance nationwide for 2005 is estimated at $870, an increase of $13 per vehicle from last year, reports the I.I.I. The projected increase represents a continued slowdown from 2004, when auto insurance costs rose by just 2.8 percent, said Robert Hartwig, senior vice president and chief economist of the I.I.I.
“The price of auto insurance is increasing by little more than one-half the rate of inflation,” Hartwig said. “Many people who, for example, drive safe cars, have excellent safety records and good credit-based insurance scores may see their rates go down.”
Hartwig cited the declining number of auto accidents, safer cars, new auto theft technology and fraud-fighting efforts as key factors behind the trend.

Car Accidents and Children
I'm surprisingly out of practice when it comes to dealing with children, and his presence was initially very jarring. After a short time, Jeff and I decided it would be appropriate to stop “banging” my “ho” with my “gat” in the new Grand Theft Auto, so we switched to more benign games, like Burnout 3. It seemed obvious to us that actively trying to cause car accidents was a healthier atmosphere for impressionable minds.Or perhaps not.

You Can Get More Than the Cost of Repair
In American Service Center V. Helton the D.C. Court of Appeals held that remedies for injury to personal property include residual diminution in value after repair.
In this case, there was an automobile accident involving an Avis rental and a Mercedes Benz owned by a large Mercedes dealership, the American Service Center. Avis paid for the repairs to the Mercedes, but American Service Center sued to also recover the net residual diminution in value after repair. The Court held that:
when a plaintiff can prove that the value of an injured chattel after repair is less than the chattel’s worth before the injury, recovery may be had for both the reasonable cost of repair and the residual diminution in value after repair, provided that the award does not exceed the gross diminution in value.

Car Accident Described
This blogger writes a harrowing tale of a car accident he was involved in. Luckily, he's okay. Below are his thoughts on how bad things could get as result of the accident. This is what psychologists call negative fantasies. Before you have negative fantasies about a car accident, consider calling a lawyer to represent you. A car accident lawyer can clarify your personal liability and help you understand your legal rights.
he accident is effectively a no-fault since the actual cause of it (the black car) got away completely. So I don't get handed the bill. Otherwise, it's more-or-less squarely on my shoulders, and the damages would likely land squarely on me since it's very easy for the lawsuits and so-forth this is sure to generate vastly exceeding any obtainable insurance anyone can get, since there was three minors involved so it's likely their parents will start being handed M60's loaded with hundreds of lawyers and start spray-and-praying until one sticks somewhere. Ergo, I'll either get off scott free, or end up screwed so hard I'll effectively never be able to earn an income as long as I live, and likely go to jail as a side-effect.

Anti-Seat Belt Advocate Killed in Car Accident
This is a tragedy. Personal injury lawyers may be able to help you after a car accident, but it may be hard if you are advocating against a safety measure. Please buckle up!
In the supreme irony, a young college student who had advocated against government regulation of wearing seat belts was killed in a car accident where he was not wearing a seat belt. It is a tragedy that this guy was killed in an auto accident but there is a reason why the government recommends (and state govenments have laws) that you wear a seat belt. Seat belts have proven effective in keeping you from being ejected from a vehicle when you get in an account according to the article about the college student. The following is a quote from an editorial Derek Kieper by:
As laws become increasingly strict for seat belts, fewer people will respond positively by buckling up in response to the laws. There seems to be a die-hard group of non-wearers out there who simply do not wish to buckle up no matter what the government does. I belong to this group.
You can find the full editorial in the Daily Nebraskan and the article about the car crash in the Lincoln Journal Star. And lastly you can find a full complete story about the anti-seat belt law advocate over at Snopes.com.
